Many of our booksellers traveled for vacations last month. We love to visit other independent bookshops when we're on the road! It's a great way to discover books that weren't on our radar, gather ideas about things we can improve, and meet other booksellers.
Author Hannah Carter returned to the shop to promote her newest book "Saltwater Souls". Thank you to everyone who came to chat with Hannah and purchase a copy of her book.
It has become tradition at Wheatberry to donate our profits on Juneteenth to the Ross County NAACP. It is so important to us to continue to invest in our community, and we are grateful to everyone who helps us do so.

July Book Club Information
For the month of July, the "Back to School Book Club" is reading "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald, the quintessential novel of the Jazz Age and a perfect summer read. We will meet to discuss this classic work on Wednesday July 31 at 7pm in the shop.
As our Nonfiction Book Club "considers the essay", we will read "Slouching Towards Bethlehem" by Joan Didion for the month of June. Didion's first work of nonfiction is considered a watershed moment in American writing and was praised at its 1968 publication as one of the "best prose written in this country". We will meet to discuss this book in the shop on Monday July 29 at 7pm.
Selected titles are always available in the shop for 15% off during the month that we are reading them.

Bookseller Recommendation
Cathy recommends "The Art Thief" by Michael Finkel.
"This book is labeled as a true story of love, crime, and dangerous obsession. It certainly lives up to this description. Stephane Breitwieser and girlfriend Anne Catherine Kleinklaus stole 2 billion dollars worth of art between 1994 and 2001 in Europe. This is the incredible story of how they accomplished this, why they did it, and where they stored the contraband. Stephane loved the pieces he took and felt he was doing the artwork a favor by protecting it from those who did not appreciate art as he did. He considered himself a collector, not a thief. Stephane was not doing this for the money, as he never sold a single piece. He simply loved them. 'The Art Thief' is a riveting work of nonfiction that demonstrates what one man did for his love of art."
You can find "The Art Thief" by Michael Finkel at Wheatberry Books.
