December Highlights

December is always the best time of the year at the bookstore. This year felt particularly festive with so many events! This month marked 6 years of Wheatberry Books, and we couldn't be more grateful. The Stuffy Sleepover & Storytime was so much fun! We will definitely be doing that again. Our second Poetry at the Page event was a wonderful success. This town is bursting with talented poets! We hosted multiple authors, including a pajama party with Kerry Winfrey to celebrate her newest novel "Faking Christmas". The parties kept rolling with our book club swap and dinner, another Bookstore After Dark, and a glamorous staff party at The Willis-James. But the best part of the month was helping so many people choose the perfect gift for their loved ones. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your holidays!

The original Wheatberry Book Club will spend this year revisiting some of our assigned high school reading. In our Facebook group ("Wheatberry Book Club"), we will be voting on which novel to read each month. January's pick was Harper Lee's "To Kill A Mockingbird". We will meet to discuss this classic work on Wednesday January 31 at 7pm in the shop.

The Nonfiction Book Club will focus on "Considering the Essay" this year. January's selection is "The Empathy Exams" by Leslie Jamison. This is a bold and brilliant collection of essays that ranges from personal loss to phantom diseases. We will meet to discuss this book in the shop on Monday January 29 at 7pm.

Selected titles are always available in the shop for 15% off during the month that we are reading them.

Bookseller Recommendation

Angela recommends "The Silent Patient" by Alex Michaelides. "'Alicia Berenson was thirty-three years old when she killed her husband.' From that first sentence, I was hooked and couldn't stop reading! One of my favorite things about this book other than the original storyline and great writing, was the fact that i never saw the final plot twist coming!"
If psychological suspense is your thing, "The Silent Patient" is the perfect thriller that you won't be able to put down.
You can find "The Silent Patient" on Angela's staff picks shelf at Wheatberry Books.
