December 2023

November Highlights

November was a magical month at the bookstore! From author events to storytime to late evening shopping under the Christmas lights, every day felt enchanted. Readers seemed excited for the return of our "Treat Your Shelf" promotion and showed their support during Small Business Saturday. We wrapped up another year of book club and used "Giving Tuesday" to make a nice donation to the Paper City Mentoring Project. We are so thankful to everyone who visited the shop last month!

December Book Club Information

Our book clubs take a little break for the month of December. Exciting things await when we meet back up in January!
In 2024, our fiction book club theme will be "Back to School Book Club". We will vote on which novels to read in our Facebook group (Wheatberry Book Club), but all will be options that may have been assigned reading in high school.
We are so grateful to our former bookseller Vanessa for continuing to moderate this club after taking a position with Pilgrim Press. In 2024, this club will be moderated by bookseller Rebecca and will have a theme of  "Consider the Essay".

Bookseller Recommendation

Cathy recommends "Kinfolk" by Sean Dietrich. "This book drew me in from the first few pages with its lovable characters, humor, tragedies, love, and second chances. I love Sean Dietrich's writing. It feels like an old friend is telling a story. This was definitely a 5 star book for me!"
In "Kinfolk", a mysterious teenager shows up in Nub's life in rural Alabama, revealing to him that family, forgiveness, and kindness can be found in the most unlikely places.
You can find "Kinfolk" on Cathy's staff picks shelf at Wheatberry Books.
